We’re nearing the end…I can’t believe it! This week, the taper hit me hard. I felt cranky and exhausted all week. And have been stress-eating A LOT of candy. But two of my oldest friends from NYC came to visit for the weekend, and we had a blast. It was a nice distraction from marathon jitters!
Monday – 4 miles
Tuesday – Rest
Wednesday – 4 miles
Thursday – 6 miles (inc. 3 miles @ MGP)
Friday – Rest
On Friday evening I went to an Austin Marathon Prep & Course Strategy event at Rogue Running. Two coaches from Rogue Running gave us a strategy for tackling the challenging, hilly course and a strategy for conquering the mental demons that come to visit during any marathon. It was a great way to kick off the weekend.
Saturday – 7.2 miles
Sunday – Recovery Yoga at Sukha Yoga
It was a busy weekend, showing around my two friends who were in town from NYC and briefly meeting up with another who is here for the Running USA conference!
Also, it was absolutely freezing on Sunday – when I woke up it was 32 degrees, felt like 23; remember when it was 75 and sunny last week, and I went swimming?
TOTAL – 21 miles
Recovery Yoga was a really nice, relaxing way to end the week. Work has been very stressful lately but I’m going to try to head into race week with as calm and centered a perspective as possible. The weather for Sunday could still change so I’m trying not to check the forecast obsessively yet. I can only control what I can control, and as of now I still can’t control the weather – so I’m going to focus on eating well and sleeping well, and keeping my mental game in check.
I can’t believe I’m running a marathon next week!!!
